On 9 May 2025, digital music project D’UANTRI will release its debut single “Bad Things,” bringing a fearless fusion of dark trap, trap metal, and cream trap to the forefront of the UK’s alternative scene. Created by renowned artist Tii Ricks (aka Mordechai), the project is a showcase of futuristic production and raw emotion.
D’UANTRI aims to challenge musical boundaries by fusing aggressive trap metal and dark atmospherics with rhythmic hip-hop and electronic influences. As an outlet for Tii Ricks’ sonic experimentation, the project pushes beyond genre lines to deliver a unique and powerful listening experience.
Tii Ricks — the creative mind behind the project — was born on a US Army base in Germany and raised in Brooklyn before moving to Finland following the death of her father. Her multicultural upbringing and personal history lend D’UANTRI its emotional intensity and cross-genre appeal.
Outside of music, Ricks is a highly regarded filmmaker with formal training in Film Direction and Editing. Her creative work spans television, short-form cinema, and music videos, including two international features: “Better Than Andy” (2009) and “Rage: Midsummer’s Eve” (2015), both of which received recognition within their respective genres.
Ricks is also a published autobiographical author, using storytelling to reflect on her personal journey. Under the name Mordechai, she has earned worldwide attention for her music productions, which have been broadcast across more than 30 countries, underlining her capacity to connect with a broad international audience.
D’UANTRI also reflects Ricks’ commitment to embracing digital tools such as artificial intelligence to push creative limits. The project is a powerful example of how emerging technologies can be harnessed in service of deeply personal, human-led artistry.
While D’UANTRI appears as a digital persona, the heart and soul of the music are entirely authored by Tii Ricks. Each lyric is written with care and intention, crafted to resonate with listeners who crave bold, authentic innovation. Looking ahead, Ricks plans to use D’UANTRI as a collaborative platform for cutting-edge artists in the experimental scene.
“Bad Things” is just the beginning — a striking debut that introduces D’UANTRI’s bold sonic identity through a layered and intense composition that sets the stage for what’s to come.
