Houseplant.co.uk has shared new data revealing the UK’s most popular indoor plants, drawing on insights from more than 350,000 deliveries and 5,750 customer reviews.
The data shows London’s top choice is the Areca Palm, with the Boston Fern also performing strongly. Manchester records the highest demand for the Swiss Cheese Plant, while Bristol is evenly divided between the Boston Fern and Swiss Cheese Plant. Glasgow follows London in favouring the Areca Palm, while Edinburgh stands out with the Radiator Plant ‘Hope’, known for its resilience in lower light.
Oxford has developed a preference for the Wandering Dude Nanouk, particularly popular for its trailing appearance. Leeds is seeing strong sales of String of Turtles, while Liverpool has unexpectedly become a centre for the Venus Fly Trap.
Rebecca Tapper, founder of Houseplant.co.uk, said: “The Areca Palm being on top isn’t a shock. It sells out constantly and has done for months. But Liverpool and carnivorous plants? That one we didn’t see coming. When you’ve got data from 350,000 deliveries, it throws up things you’d never guess.”
The company reports that it has doubled in size year on year, attributing this growth to actively incorporating customer feedback. More than 7,000 customer enquiries were reviewed earlier this year, leading to improvements such as better search functionality and tailored pot suggestions at checkout.
Houseplant.co.uk has also introduced a plant care resource featuring 1,000 articles, enabling customers to search for advice in straightforward, everyday language.
The retailer has delivered over 350,000 houseplants across the UK and currently holds more than 5,750 verified customer reviews. More information is available via its website.
