Esteemed sculptor William Newton will soon reveal his latest body of work with the “Fleeting Moments” exhibition, travelling across London, Guernsey, and Jersey. This major event marks his first solo showcase in a quarter of a century.
Organised by renowned jeweller Catherine Best, the exhibition celebrates Newton’s extraordinary gift for capturing the spirit and emotion of the living form. Newton reflected on his artistic journey, saying: “My work is always deeply personal.”
He added: “Each sculpture holds profound meaning, as I strive to honour the living form in the most genuine way possible. This exhibition is a reflection of that dedication.”
Over the course of his distinguished career, Newton has produced 13 successive Derby trophies and sculpted life-size figures of icons such as Lord Oaksey, Jack Berry, Lester Piggott, and Dick Francis, along with statues of famous racehorses like Kauto Star and Motivator.
Catherine Best, celebrated for her nature-inspired jewellery creations, expressed her admiration for Newton’s work.
She said: “William’s sculptures breathe life into bronze, capturing not just the form but the very essence of his subjects. This exhibition is a true celebration of that connection.”
The “Fleeting Moments” exhibition will open at Catherine Best’s London showroom from 15th–21st May, move to Guernsey from 30th May–3rd June, and conclude in Jersey from 7th–14th June 2025.
Visitors will experience an array of Newton’s latest creations, ranging from delicate, smaller works to grand, powerful sculptures that evoke themes of strength, vulnerability, and dynamic movement.
