Sri Lanka Taxi Charter Service International Limited (SLTCS Ltd.) has introduced a new private car-and-driver charter service designed to meet the needs of travellers arriving from Europe.
The service connects visitors with government-licensed Tourist Drivers and air-conditioned private vehicles, offering flexible, point-to-point travel across major cultural landmarks and coastal regions. Guests receive a confirmed written quotation before travel and are assigned a vehicle and driver suited to their itinerary and group size.
“Building on our proven track record serving Japanese travelers, we are entering the United Kingdom market. By providing licensed tour drivers who meet the exacting standards of Japanese guests, we will make a trip to Sri Lanka exceptional.” said a SLTCS spokesperson.
English-speaking drivers are included as standard, and other language arrangements, including Japanese, can be made if notified at the time of enquiry.
Vehicle options range from sedans for individuals or couples, to standard vans and larger vans suitable for families or small groups, all equipped with air-conditioning. Child seats are available when age and measurements are provided.
Travellers follow a clear booking process: submit trip details; receive a costs-and-route proposal; confirm; and then receive the assigned driver’s name, vehicle information and contact, usually via WhatsApp, ahead of arrival. Pick-ups may be arranged from Colombo, Negombo, Bandaranaike International Airport, or additional locations.
SLTCS positions its pricing at the competitive end of the market and states its charter costs are typically around 30% lower than major travel agency arrangements for comparable service levels.
The company advises early booking during peak season (December–March). Due to current demand, charters must be four days or longer.
Payment is split for clarity: the Agency Service Fee is paid securely online, while the Driver Fare is paid directly to the driver, usually in LKR. SLTCS acts as an intermediary only, with the transport contract directly between the traveller and the driver. Agency Service Fee refunds are offered up to seven days before the trip; later cancellations are non-refundable.
Charters provide more than transfers—drivers offer day-to-day support such as route adjustments, timing suggestions and rest stops. Licensed national or site guides can be added for more detailed context when required. Activity bookings such as safaris or whale-watching may be integrated, with tickets paid directly to providers.
Corporate itineraries are also supported, including receipts and route planning for multi-city visits or inspection tours.
For late-night arrivals, SLTCS will advise the safest and most practical travel plan, noting any price differences within the quote.
