The fourth edition of this annual event will bring vibrant paste-up collages to the streets of Shoreditch and Brick Lane from 13th-15th September 2024.
The London International Paste-up Festival (LIPF) will return to East London from 13th-15th September, bringing a burst of colour to the city’s streets.
Now in its fourth year, the London International Paste-up Festival is an annual celebration of paste-up art, which transforms the streets of Shoreditch and Brick Lane with large, vivid collages. The event has previously featured the works of over 300 artists from around the world, adorning the walls of London’s unofficial arts district.
Paste-up art, the central focus of the festival, involves affixing paper to surfaces using “wheat paste” or wallpaper glue. Artists can create these pieces using various methods, such as screen-printing, hand-painting, lino-printing, digital design, or block-printing, either at home or in their studios, before they are installed in public spaces.
Though often an underappreciated niche within street art, paste-up art is one of the most democratic forms of creative expression, as it can be done by anyone without requiring approval from any authority. The LIPF enables street artists from around the world to have their work displayed in London by sending their pieces by post to the festival’s organiser, who will then install them during the festival.
In previous years, the festival has featured work by well-known artists such as London Police, WRDSMTH, StinkFish, Donk, Mr Edwards, RX Skulls, Apparan, Quint, D7606, C3, Whatifier, Tweet Street Art, Uberfubs, Mowcka, Vision Ox11, Planet Selfie, Savant, and others.
The 2024 edition will be part of the London Mural Festival and promises to be more urban than ever, featuring a variety of street-based activities such as visual projections, street art hunts, performances, children’s pop-in events, and much more.
Attendees can visit the festival’s stall at Seven Stars Yard (Brick Lane) from Friday, 15th September to Sunday, 17th September, between 12:00 and 17:00 to collect maps or scan the festival’s QR code to follow the locations in the event’s trail. The festival is organised by the Art House Project, a London-based art and music collective.
