Exposure Ninja CEO Addresses House of Lords on Flexible Working Future

Charlie Marchant, CEO of digital marketing agency Exposure Ninja, has been invited to speak at the House of Lords this week as part of a national inquiry examining the future of remote and hybrid working in the UK. Her appearance follows the agency’s contribution to the official Call for Evidence, which explored both the benefits and challenges of evolving work models.

Exposure Ninja, a fully remote digital marketing agency since its inception in 2011, has long championed flexible work as a driver of inclusivity, productivity, and economic growth. In the submission, the agency shared what it learned from over a decade of successful remote operations, including award-winning policies on flexible working and company culture.

Their submission shared insights drawn from over a decade of remote operations, including the agency’s award-winning culture and flexible work policies. Key highlights included an 88% employee retention rate, strong internal diversity, and clear evidence of how remote-first strategies can fuel profitability and support staff wellbeing.

“I’m super excited about this given remote and flexible working is a topic we’re all so passionate about and have built a successful agency together as a fully remote team,” said Charlie Marchant. “The perspective we share will be used as part of recommendations made to the government on the future development of remote and hybrid working.”

The panel, held at the Palace of Westminster on 28th April, brought together employers to discuss core themes including managing distributed teams, scaling remote-first organisations, reducing regional inequality, and better supporting working parents and carers. Their evidence will play a key role in informing national policy on hybrid and remote work.

During the session, Marchant stressed the importance of approaching remote work with fairness and trust:

“The government should encourage remote work where it works. There is a lot of implication that people may take advantage of remote systems. This idea doesn’t match our experience. Actually, the vast majority of people who work remotely want to do excellent work, be a part of the workforce, and contribute to the economy, and I think it’s important that they have the opportunity to do so.”

She also highlighted the growing need to protect work-life boundaries in flexible settings:

“I would also encourage a Right To Disconnect policy, particularly for employers who work majority remote or hybrid. Having guidelines for employers around when the work day starts and ends will help avoid any digital seepage and protect employee productivity and wellbeing.”

Exposure Ninja’s progressive work culture was recently acknowledged at the 2024 Global Agency Awards, where it received accolades for Best Flexible Working Policy and Best Culture Transformation Initiative.

Coping with exam pressure: Five key habits for students this year

0

UK tutoring provider FindTutors, part of GoStudent, has highlighted five key practices for students to adopt during this year’s exam period to help reduce stress and stay focused.

Exams are once again approaching for thousands across the UK, and the psychological strain of preparation, revision, and high expectations is taking a toll. Although mental health campaigns like Stress Awareness Month aim to raise awareness, students continue to face mounting pressure.

According to research published by the Association of School and College Leaders in 2024, 77% of Year 11 teachers observed students experiencing mental health issues linked to exam stress. Meanwhile, NHS statistics show child anxiety referrals have more than doubled post-pandemic, adding urgency to the conversation around youth wellbeing.

To help students stay grounded and supported, Tiara Junanto from FindTutors shares a list of helpful exam-time strategies, drawn from both personal experience and professional insight.

Preparing for and sitting exams can be incredibly stressful, and without the right tools or knowledge to deal with this, it can quickly spiral into more serious issues.

“The most important thing by far is sleep. We’ve all been there, working on a particularly tricky subject late in the day, and it is tempting to keep going at the expense of a good night’s sleep. This is almost always a mistake, with poor quality or insufficient sleep shown by multiple studies to reduce your attention span and how effective your brain is at understanding things. Aim to get at least 8 hours a night, even on busy days.

“Alongside this comes exercise and nutrition. Grabbing the microwave meal or skipping that run to do a few extra hours of revision sounds like a good idea, but if you have weeks or months to go until the end of exam season it will quickly catch up with you. Exercise can be a fantastic stress reliever and provides your brain with a much-needed break from studying.

“As exams get closer, try and share your feelings with other students or friends, discussing your experiences can help you feel more in control of situations and hearing that others are going through a similar time can be reassuring. But make sure it doesn’t just become a competition to see who is doing the most revision, which is never helpful. Also make sure that you get help from a professional, if you need.

“On the day of, or night before, exams, try and take some time to relax. Techniques such as deep breathing exercises or mindfulness can help you feel less stressed and if you’ve already put in the work, will be more beneficial than any last-minute cramming and certainly better than a night without sleep.

“Finally, don’t discuss the exam with your friends afterward. It is very tempting to try and compare answers to reassure yourself that you have done well, but this can be unhelpful for both you and your friends when you are powerless to do anything about the outcome. This is especially true if you still have more exams to come. Try to let it go and forget about it.”

D’UANTRI Debuts “Bad Things” – A Genre-Bending Blast of Trap Metal and Dark Trap

0

On 9 May 2025, digital music project D’UANTRI will release its debut single “Bad Things,” bringing a fearless fusion of dark trap, trap metal, and cream trap to the forefront of the UK’s alternative scene. Created by renowned artist Tii Ricks (aka Mordechai), the project is a showcase of futuristic production and raw emotion.

D’UANTRI aims to challenge musical boundaries by fusing aggressive trap metal and dark atmospherics with rhythmic hip-hop and electronic influences. As an outlet for Tii Ricks’ sonic experimentation, the project pushes beyond genre lines to deliver a unique and powerful listening experience.

Tii Ricks — the creative mind behind the project — was born on a US Army base in Germany and raised in Brooklyn before moving to Finland following the death of her father. Her multicultural upbringing and personal history lend D’UANTRI its emotional intensity and cross-genre appeal.

Outside of music, Ricks is a highly regarded filmmaker with formal training in Film Direction and Editing. Her creative work spans television, short-form cinema, and music videos, including two international features: “Better Than Andy” (2009) and “Rage: Midsummer’s Eve” (2015), both of which received recognition within their respective genres.

Ricks is also a published autobiographical author, using storytelling to reflect on her personal journey. Under the name Mordechai, she has earned worldwide attention for her music productions, which have been broadcast across more than 30 countries, underlining her capacity to connect with a broad international audience.

D’UANTRI also reflects Ricks’ commitment to embracing digital tools such as artificial intelligence to push creative limits. The project is a powerful example of how emerging technologies can be harnessed in service of deeply personal, human-led artistry.

While D’UANTRI appears as a digital persona, the heart and soul of the music are entirely authored by Tii Ricks. Each lyric is written with care and intention, crafted to resonate with listeners who crave bold, authentic innovation. Looking ahead, Ricks plans to use D’UANTRI as a collaborative platform for cutting-edge artists in the experimental scene.

“Bad Things” is just the beginning — a striking debut that introduces D’UANTRI’s bold sonic identity through a layered and intense composition that sets the stage for what’s to come.

At the heart of the QD Mini LED series’ industry-leading performance is TCL’s AiPQ Processor, an AI-driven picture engine that continuously enhances clarity, brightness, and colour balance in real time. AiPQ’s intelligent scene recognition adjusts contrast dynamically, making the brights brighter and more impactful while preserving detail in darker areas so you don’t lose definition in faces and scenery. It also enhances motion smoothness, reducing blur and judder smooth and lifelike movement. This is particularly beneficial for sports fans and gamers, ensuring that even the fastest on-screen action remains crisp and clear. ITS Harlow Hosts Tool Theft Prevention Event as Tradespeople Unite for Action

On Tuesday 29th April, the ITS Harlow store became the centre of a community-led initiative to fight back against the widespread issue of tool theft. Teaming up with security specialists and campaigning voices, ITS gave away FREE SelectaDNA Tool Marking Kits to support local tradespeople in securing their equipment.

Tool theft has become one of the biggest threats facing UK trades, with rising cases affecting workers’ ability to earn and costing the sector millions each year. ITS, alongside Trades United and Shoaib Awan (thegasexpert), responded with an event focused on giving practical, preventative support to those most vulnerable.

The centrepiece of the initiative was SelectaDNA—a state-of-the-art forensic marking system that allows tradespeople to mark and register their tools, making them uniquely identifiable and much harder for criminals to profit from. The campaign is part of a larger push to shift behaviours, improve awareness, and bring down theft rates through education and action.

The event also received backing from leading industry brands including CT1, Armorgard, Veloctity and Fix Radio, who were present on the day offering tool security tips, product demonstrations, and radio coverage to raise awareness even further.

“We know the damage tool theft does—not just to business, but to people’s lives,” said an ITS spokesperson. “By offering these kits for free and partnering with such committed brands, we’re making it harder for criminals to get away with it—and making a statement that the trades community is stronger when we act together.”

This local action echoes the growing momentum of the Trades United movement online, which continues to push for stronger protections, better legislation, and wider awareness of the issue affecting workers up and down the country.

Tradespeople who want to protect their tools but missed the event can still get involved—SelectaDNA kits are now available to purchase directly at its.co.uk.

Elite Renewables Acquisition Strengthens Shinobi Capital’s Role in the UK’s Clean Energy Transformation

0

Elite Renewables has been acquired by Shinobi Capital Group in a move that bolsters the investment firm’s rapidly expanding portfolio of low-carbon home energy companies, reinforcing its leadership in the UK’s retrofit and renewables market.

This strategic investment reflects Shinobi’s mission to create a cohesive group of expert retrofit providers who can offer reliable, scalable, and high-performing energy solutions across the UK. The move is well-timed, as public demand surges for sustainable upgrades supported by schemes like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, offering grants of up to £7,500.

Elite Renewables, operating for over ten years, has become known for its deep technical know-how and its work on complex residential projects across London and the South East. The company installs a wide range of renewable systems — including air source heat pumps, solar panels, MVHR, batteries, and EV chargers — often achieving system performance that exceeds 400%.

Strategic Growth Through Technical Talent
Elite now joins Shinobi’s growing portfolio of energy-focused businesses, including The Retrofitters and Pyramid Eco, both of which contribute to insulation and retrofit services across multiple property sectors.

The business will continue to trade under its current name, with its leadership and day-to-day operations unaffected. Shinobi’s investment will support Elite’s next phase of growth by providing access to advanced digital tools, streamlined systems, and strategic branding expertise.

Tim Cameron-Kitchen, founder of Shinobi Capital Group, stated:
“Elite Renewables is one of the most technically capable and well-respected businesses in the heat pump and solar space. Their commitment to long-term performance, attention to detail, and service quality make them exactly the kind of company we want to support. Their track record of some truly extraordinary projects makes this one of the most exciting renewables businesses in the UK.

“Together, we will build on that strong foundation and help more people across the UK upgrade their homes with confidence.”

Focusing on Long-Term Value and Customer Trust
Elite and Shinobi share a belief in providing more than just clean energy. Their combined efforts focus on delivering systems that not only reduce emissions but are engineered for efficiency, dependability, and long-term home value. Both organisations prioritise customer education and integrity — key principles as the UK scales its retrofit efforts.

This acquisition is a step forward in Shinobi Capital’s broader ambition to lead the UK’s transition to low-carbon living through trusted, high-quality service delivery.

Tim Cameron-Kitchen added:
“We believe the next chapter of the green transition belongs to companies that combine technical excellence with trust, education, and exceptional service,”
“Elite Renewables embodies all of that.”

Bonya Follow-On Milk Earns High Praise from UK Parents in Product Trial

0

Deciding on the right follow-on formula can be a daunting task for many families, particularly with so many options available.

Bonya has reported overwhelmingly positive feedback for its Stage 2 Follow-On Milk after participating in a Test & Rated campaign led by First Time Mums UK.

To ensure honest reviews, First Time Mums UK enlisted 20 mothers of babies aged 6 to 12 months to trial Bonya’s Stage 2 formula and share their impressions. The trial explored multiple areas, including ease of preparation, baby acceptance, digestion, taste, and value.

Bonya’s Stage 2 Follow-On Milk sets itself apart through its nutritional quality, affordability, and thoughtful formulation. Made with milk fats, free from palm oil and fish oil, and certified Halal and Kosher friendly, the product is also part of a charitable partnership with In Kind Direct — providing support to families who need it most.

When preparing feeds, 80% of mums noted how easy it was to mix, with no clumps and a smooth consistency. As for acceptance, 60% of babies enjoyed it immediately, 25% took a few attempts, and 15% needed more time — but importantly, none rejected it outright.

In terms of digestion, 80% of parents said their babies had no issues such as constipation or stomach upset, showing that Bonya was well tolerated by most infants.

Regarding taste, 45% of mums said the formula tasted and smelled good, while 20% rated it as excellent. Many remarked on the mild flavour and creamy texture, both of which helped make the transition easier.

Comments from testers included:
“The taste is good, not overpowering, and just sweet enough.”
“It’s thick, creamy, and smells good.”
“I like that the formula doesn’t contain fish oil like most brands.”

Quality and nutrition scored highly, with 95% of participants expressing confidence in the product.

Affordability also stood out — Bonya achieved an average score of 4.7 out of 5 for cost-effectiveness. With 80% of mums citing affordability as a key consideration, this feedback highlights the brand’s ability to combine quality with value.

The brand’s social impact resonated strongly too. Over 80% of testers praised Bonya’s charity initiative, offering reflections like:
“The charitable aspect is amazing – formula is expensive, and not everyone can afford it.”
“It’s great to see a brand giving back and supporting families in need.”
“Knowing that buying Bonya helps other parents makes me feel even better about choosing it.”

Yana Abramova, Founder of First Time Mums UK, shared her reaction:
“We’re thrilled to see such positive feedback from our community about Bonya Follow-On Milk. It’s clear that parents are not only confident in its quality and nutrition but also feel reassured knowing they’re giving their little ones a product they can trust.
“These results reflect the real impact of thoughtful, science-backed nutrition in the first crucial years of life.”

In conclusion, 90% of participating mums said they would recommend Bonya Stage 2 Follow-On Milk to other parents — a strong endorsement of a formula that blends affordability, digestibility, and purpose.

Pembee Rolls Out Seamless Tax-Free Childcare Payment Option for Parents and Providers

0

Pembee has launched a new built-in payment option for the Tax-Free Childcare scheme, aimed at helping parents easily use government support when booking childcare and children’s activities.

This integration allows eligible parents to complete Tax-Free Childcare payments as part of the online booking experience. With secure links to HMRC’s services, payments are processed instantly — eliminating the hassle of reference codes and slow bank transfers.

Traditionally, providers have had to spend time verifying payments and tracking transactions. Pembee’s automated system now removes this burden, ensuring quicker confirmations and better alignment between payments and bookings.

Parents enjoy a more efficient and reliable checkout, without the need to send extra notifications or double-check transfers. This builds confidence and trust while reducing booking-related stress.

There are no extra processing fees involved, so providers receive 100% of the Tax-Free Childcare payment. This helps them keep prices manageable and allows families to make the most of the support on offer. The feature aligns with Pembee’s broader goal of improving access to affordable childcare.

Despite its value, Tax-Free Childcare has been underutilised due to complexity. Pembee’s integration changes that, making the system simpler for everyone involved.

“We’re excited to make it easier for parents to use the Tax-Free Childcare scheme,” said Ed Hollinghurst, Founder of Pembee. “Too often, complicated processes and manual systems create unnecessary friction. Our integrated solution not only supports providers but also helps more parents access the government support they’re entitled to — with a faster, smoother, and fully online experience.”

This new payment method is already available to Pembee users throughout the UK. Providers can enable it easily by inputting their registered childcare provider information into their admin settings.

Graeme Souness Set to Swim the English Channel Round Trip in Aid of EB

0

This Wednesday, 30th April, footballing icon Graeme Souness CBE will once again take to the waters of the English Channel. This time, however, he’s not just crossing it – he’s swimming there and back to raise vital funds and awareness for epidermolysis bullosa (EB).

Graeme is part of a team of six preparing to take on the demanding two-way crossing in support of people affected by EB – a rare genetic disorder often called ‘butterfly skin’ due to the delicate nature of the skin, which can blister and tear with the slightest friction.

Back in June 2023, Graeme’s first Channel swim raised more than £1.5 million for DEBRA UK, the leading charity supporting those living with EB. Inspired by the impact, he’s returning to the sea for an even greater challenge.

Commenting on his latest fundraising challenge, Graeme said:

“I was truly blown away by the support we got back in 2023. I had to do something for my wee friend, Isla, and the thousands of other children and adults affected by this cruel condition.

With the money raised DEBRA UK was able to start testing drugs which could be life-changing but there are many more drugs that they need to test if we are to secure effective treatments for every form of EB, treatments that could help stop the extreme pain. This is why we’re getting back in the water once again. It’s going to be tough; I’m 71 now and it’s double the distance, but I know we can do this, we must do this, we must be the difference for EB”.

Graeme and the team are expected to begin their swim from Dover Harbour at 11:30am. Their fundraising target of £750,000 could finance two additional clinical trials that may bring relief from EB’s debilitating symptoms – including painful blisters, raw wounds, and constant itching.

For further information, visit www.debra.org.uk, and to support the swim, go to www.give.as/debra.
