Executive Producers Eloise Singer and Lucy Liu have announced the donation of 50 copies of the acclaimed VR experience, “The Pirate Queen“, to academic institutions worldwide. Each school and university will receive a free copy of the immersive experience and a limited edition poster signed by Singer and Liu.

This initiative aims to inspire future leaders by offering them an insight into the captivating historical narrative of Cheng Shih, a legendary pirate who defied convention to become one of history’s most revered female leaders.

Cheng Shih, who took command of her husband’s fleet and became the most powerful pirate of all time, commanding 70,000 men during the lead-up to the Opium Wars, is a historical figure of immense significance. Her story of defiance and leadership serves as a testament to the strength and resilience of women throughout history.

“The Pirate Queen,” directed by Singer and starring Liu, provides a compelling and historical portrayal of Cheng Shih. The immersive experience has received widespread acclaim for its storytelling and educational value, making it a valuable resource for academic institutions.

UK TikTok Stars Release “Break the Night” in Bid for Second Chart-Topping Hit

The stars have come together again as Creator Universe, boasting over 40 million followers, strive for their second chart-topping hit with “Break the Night,” this time supporting Samaritans during Loneliness Awareness Week.

Creator Universe, the UK’s pioneering “music for good” supergroup of social media stars, has reunited and is aiming for a second number one in the charts.

Following their Christmas number one on the Big Top 40 in December 2023, their latest “pop anthem” project, “Break The Night,” will officially launch on 14 June with the release of the single and music video. This will be followed by a series of events designed to bring online communities together in person.

The project supports Samaritans, who provide a free, 24-hour helpline for anyone needing someone to talk to.

The timing of the release is notable, coinciding with Loneliness Awareness Week. Over 4 million people in the UK report feeling lonely always or often, while half of the population feels lonely at least sometimes.

The project aims to spread joy, foster community, and remind people that they are never alone, while raising funds and awareness for Samaritans’ free, non-judgemental telephone helpline. This service is made possible by 23,000 trained volunteers who answer a call every 10 seconds.

New BYD Harmony Showroom Opens in Canary Wharf, London

Wheelchair Alliance Welcomes Tanni Grey-Thompson as New President

Paralympian Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson has taken on the role of president of the Wheelchair Alliance, an organisation dedicated to championing the voice of wheelchair users across England.

As one of the founding members of the Alliance and a wheelchair user herself, Tanni has campaigned relentlessly on key issues such as accessibility, equality, and welfare reform.

In her new capacity, Tanni, who secured 11 gold medals during her distinguished sporting career, will collaborate with Alliance members to advocate for wheelchair users, highlighting inequalities in provision and services and ensuring their voices are heard at the highest levels.

Tanni, who was made a Life Peer in 2010 in recognition of her achievements, said: “I am delighted to become president of the Wheelchair Alliance, particularly at such an important moment in its history.

“Since its launch in 2015, the Wheelchair Alliance has brought together wheelchair users, charities, representatives from the NHS, and trade to highlight the challenges faced by wheelchair users each and every day.

“Our latest report, the Value of a Wheelchair, showed that increasing spending on wheelchair provision by £22 million would unlock benefits to society worth more than £60 million each year. The report also highlights huge disparities in the time it takes for people to access wheelchair services and the support they need.
